Retail Operations Manager – FULL TIME

Responsible for leading Barks N’ Rec service associates in achieving the company budgeted retail sales and profit goals. Ensures that store standards are upheld, associates are coached on best practices, and all merchandise is accurately received, priced, stocked and product storage is maintained. The best candidate will be a top knotch problem solver and self starter who takes initiative to actively seek ways to grow the business and our associates. You’ll be responsible, organized, reliable, punctual, and well equipped to handle a rapidly changing environment! This position reports to the store owners.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures 100% pricing accuracy, including verifying all pricing labels are up and are accurate with regard to correct price and current offer date.
  • Facilitates the unloading and stocking of merchandise according to operational excellence standards.
  • Ensures that the store is well stocked and inventory counts are accurate.
  • In partnership with Store Owner, ensures staffing levels are appropriate for retail location.
  • Ensures that the storage and cleaning equipment is clean and organized.
  • Prioritizes merchandising to move product through the sales floor, creating product displays and end cap sets.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks to maintain the stores appearance and keep clear of hazards.
  • Ensures highest levels of customer service are achieved daily.
  • Trains and develops Service Associates & Lead Service Associates.
  • In partnership with Store Owner, drafts and manages any company policies and procedures for necessary for retail operations, including but not limited to those designed to established safety procedures.
  • Adhere to and promote established safety procedures.
  • Ensures accurate listings and reconciliation for sale, clearance, coupons, discounts, and rewards. 
  • Ensure that unforgivable items are in stock at all times.
  • Leads and coaches all Service Associates in providing great guest service and tasking with the objective of achieving budgeted sales.
  • Perform all special or other projects as assigned and assume responsibility as Leader on Duty (LOD) when in the building


Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that the store is opened and / or closed in accordance with established processes.
  • Provide training, coaching and product knowledge to Service Associates through continuous coaching and partnerships with brand representatives
  • In partnership with the Store Owner ensure proper store scheduling is being maintained to ensure adequate staffing and meal break compliance
  • Adhere to and promote established safety procedures.
  • In partnership with Store Owner; frequently review product placement and plan out location changes needed to maximize sales through merchandising, ad plans, & clearance schedule.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Directly supervises Service Associates & Lead Service Associates at each retail location.

Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although merchandise receiving, merchandise carry-outs, or stock balancing will require leaving the store briefly. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment. Improper use of safety equipment and/or not following proper lifting techniques may pose of risk of injury to customers, pets, and store partners.
